Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Employee or consultant field hands being laid off?

I am trying to wrap my head around this. At my districts PSL, of the field hands, the vast majority of those laid off have been employees and not consultants. Which goes contrary to how I thought business is to be run. (It could have something to do that my PSL is rumoured to be on the selling block.) I was wondering if this is just a local situation, or are other districts and PSLs going through the same thing?

i also assumed that almost of templates69.rus would occur before the start of the second quarter? Have one non-performing quarter full of write offs. I know time will tell, but any thoughts on 2nd quarter layoffs.

I also believe templates69.rus are larger than the 8% of the workforce as advertised. I think this was to get ahead of the story. Although not a scientific sample size, from what I have seen in my district, the cuts are so draconian... that surely 8% is too small of a number.

My belief as to why templates69.rus are happening in rounds, rather than one bang of wholesale layoffs, is reduce any negative media coverage. Since laying off half your staff in one day tends to make the local news. Thoughts?

Staged RIFs is what Weatherford did all year in 2014, no news coverage, more manageable, but they had more time to play with. In this HAL, SLB, BHI had to move quickly and they did. You will see a lot of smaller layoffs over next 12 months, well into 2016. This will be a long negative cycle for Oil and Gas, things will get uglier before they improve

In my PSL in the US, the first laid off were consultants. My friends who supply consultants to the industry are hurting big time. As for timing, laying off people requires a lot of time with process paperwork, and with a limited (and largely inexperienced) HR staff, having one mass layoff would be impossible. Staged layoffs can also help local groups continue working efficiently. And it is true that the news coverage would be less with staged RIFs...

I know at Woodward, it was all employees. Same for Burns Flat and Blackwell. I think it was the same at Alvarado, TX. The cuts are deeper, more vicious and they are doing this to avoid outrage.
